Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Anti-Leptin antibody is an IgG fraction purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis.
The antibody recognizes leptin from mouse and human. Reactivity with leptin from other species is unknown.

Target Information

Leptin is a 167 amino acid protein hormone (~16 kDa) encoded by the ob gene. It plays a key role in regulating body weight, metabolism, and reproductive function.
Leptin is mainly expressed by adipocytes and also secreted by epithelial cells of the stomach and placenta.
Leptin receptors are abundant in hypothalamic regions involved in appetite and energy regulation, as well as in T lymphocytes and vascular endothelial cells.

Leptin influences food intake, energy expenditure, adiposity, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, wound healing, inflammation, immune responses, pubertal development, and fetal growth.
Defects in leptin production can lead to severe hereditary obesity in rodents and humans.
