  • Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
    Human, Gibbon (100%); Gorilla, Monkey (94%); Marmoset (83%)
  • For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
  • After incubation with the primary antibody, slides should be incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

Target Information

Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a hypotensive peptide belonging to the peptide superfamily that includes calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and amylin.
ADM is highly expressed in the adrenal medulla and produced by most contractile cells, upregulated during sepsis and ischemia.
Three distinct receptors can bind ADM: ADM receptor (L1), RDC-1, and the Calcitonin Receptor-Like Receptor (CRLR).
CRLR associates with receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs), which determine binding specificity.

  • CRLR + RAMP1 → CGRP binding
  • CRLR + RAMP2/3 → ADM binding

The ADM receptor is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor, highly expressed in heart, brain, skeletal muscle, immune system, adrenal gland, and liver.
It mediates ADM signaling via G proteins activating adenylate cyclase.
