Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, followed by screening of individual clones to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- High specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to a larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Human DC-SIGN/CD209.
Target Information
The DC-SIGN (CD209) gene encodes a transmembrane receptor expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. It functions as part of the innate immune system, recognizing a wide range of pathogens including parasites and viruses. The protein has three main domains:
- N-terminal transmembrane domain
- Tandem-repeat neck domain
- C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain
The extracellular region mediates both pathogen recognition and cell adhesion by binding carbohydrate ligands on microbial and host cell surfaces. The neck region supports homo-oligomerization, enabling high-avidity binding to multivalent ligands. Variations in the neck domain repeat number can affect ligand binding. DC-SIGN is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand-binding properties and tissue distribution. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
