This antibody is specific for Human CD22.

Target Information

CD22 (BL-CAM) is a type I integral membrane glycoprotein (130–140 kDa) expressed in cytoplasm and membrane of B-lymphocytes. It appears early in B-cell differentiation, similar to CD19, and is limited to mature B cells and plasma cells. CD22 is strongly expressed in hairy cell leukemia and useful for phenotyping mature leukemias.

CD22 preferentially binds α2,6-linked sialic acid, with recognition sites masked by cis interactions. Upon ligand-induced tyrosine phosphorylation, CD22 regulates B-cell receptor signaling—acting both positively (via Src family kinases) and negatively (via phosphatase recruitment).

CD22 is positive in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but negative in classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
