Alcohol Dehydrogenase 1A (ADH1A) 유전자는 알코올 탈수소효소 계열의 구성원으로, 알파, 베타, 감마 서브유닛의 동종 및 이종이합체를 형성하는 class I 효소의 알파 서브유닛을 암호화합니다. 이 효소는 알코올을 알데하이드로 산화시키는 반응을 촉매하며, 태아기 간에서 활발히 발현되나 성체 간에서는 약하게 발현됩니다. 해당 유전자는 염색체 4번 장완에 위치하며, β 및 γ 서브유닛을 포함한 여섯 개의 추가 알코올 탈수소효소 유전자가 클러스터 형태로 존재합니다. 일부 변이는 성격 특성 및 물질 의존성과 관련될 수 있습니다.
