Target Information
STUB1 (also known as CHIP, carboxyl terminus of hsc70-interacting protein) is a 35 kDa cytoplasmic protein that interacts with both constitutive hsc70 and stress-inducible hsp70. It is highly expressed in striated muscle and broadly across cultured tissues. CHIP binds to the carboxyl terminus of hsc70/hsp70, decreasing ATPase activity and chaperone efficiency. It functions as an E3 ubiquitin ligase within the ubiquitin-proteasome system through its U-box domain, acting in conjunction with hsc70 and hsp90.
