Target Information

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are highly conserved and abundantly expressed proteins involved in multiple cellular functions such as the assembly of multiprotein complexes, protein transport across membranes, and regulation of protein folding.
They are categorized into six families: HSP90, HSP70, HSP60, low molecular weight HSPs, immunophilins, and HSP110.
The low molecular weight family includes HSP10, HSP20, HSP27, HSP32, and HSP40.

Chaperonins, including HSP10, are essential ATP-dependent molecular chaperones that assist in proper protein folding.
In E. coli, GroEL and GroES (HSP10) form a heptameric ring structure that binds symmetrically to facilitate folding of substrate proteins.
