This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. Antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed in host cells, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

This antibody has specificity for Human CD44.

Target Information

CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and epithelial cells of the intestine and breast. Multiple isoforms exist, with CD44H being predominant in normal tissues.

Functions and roles:

• Receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA)
• Involved in cell adhesion, migration, and cell-cell interactions
• Plays a role in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing
• Expression may be upregulated in certain carcinomas and linked to metastasis

CD44 is expressed in hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, epithelial tissues, and filopodia in cultured keratinocytes. Bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells express CD44 at high levels, and peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression upon stimulation.

Complex alternative splicing of CD44 transcripts leads to structurally and functionally diverse isoforms. Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus. CD44 may also be related to tumor metastasis formation.
