Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of SNAI2 only when phosphorylated at Ser104.
Target Information
Slug (SNAI2) is a member of the Snail family of C2H2-type zinc finger transcription factors. It plays a key role in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and neural tube formation during vertebrate embryogenesis. Slug transcription can be induced by growth factors such as FGF, BMP, and TGF-beta. Once expressed, Slug binds E-box regions of promoters and represses transcription of genes such as E-cadherin and Claudin-1.
Its expression in breast, esophageal, and colorectal carcinomas is correlated with poor prognosis. Slug also protects hematopoietic progenitor cells from radiation-induced apoptosis by repressing p53-mediated transcription of Puma, a BH3-only antagonist of Bcl-2 family proteins.
