Product Specific Information
The G8.8 monoclonal antibody reacts with the 40 kDa mouse EpCAM (epithelial cellular adhesion molecule), also known as EGP40, 17-1A antigen, TACSTD1, and CD326.
Generated using the TE-71 thymic epithelial cell line, CD326 is expressed on most epithelial cells and functions as a pan-carcinoma antigen mediating calcium-independent, homophilic cell-cell adhesion. It may also act as a growth factor receptor and is a target for immunotherapy in human carcinomas. CD326 binds LAIR-1 (CD305) and LAIR-2 (CD306), modulating cellular activation and inflammation.

Target Information
Ep-CAM (Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule) is a transmembrane glycoprotein (~40 kDa) expressed in epithelial tissues. It mediates Ca²⁺-independent, homotypic cell adhesion and influences cell cycle, proliferation, and metabolism by inducing c-myc and cyclins A/E.
Ep-CAM overexpression is associated with enhanced epithelial proliferation and is a marker for tumors of epithelial origin. It is localized on the basolateral surface of most simple epithelia and many carcinoma types and is useful in distinguishing adenocarcinomas from pleural mesotheliomas.
