Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types and plays a crucial role in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Beta and gamma actin coexist in most cells as cytoskeletal components. Beta actin polymerizes from globular actin (G-actin) to filamentous actin (F-actin), forming a two-stranded helix. Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta actin is commonly used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies against beta actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and the dynamic aspects of the cytoskeleton.
