MA1-43015 detects Protein C in human samples.
It has been successfully used in RIA and Western blot applications.
This antibody was derived from human protein C and activated protein C.

Target Information

Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein that is cleaved to its activated form by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex.
Activated Protein C contains a serine protease domain and functions in degradation of the activated forms of coagulation factors V and VIII.
It is produced in the liver and consists of two polypeptide chains.
The 62 kDa proenzyme is activated by thrombin bound to an endothelial surface receptor, and the active enzyme (55 kDa) cleaves factor Va and VIIIa, thereby inhibiting blood coagulation.
Normal concentrations in human plasma are approximately 1–3 ng/mL for the active enzyme and ~3 µg/mL for the proenzyme due to rapid turnover.
Mutations in the Protein C gene are associated with thrombophilia, neonatal purpura fulminans, and recurrent venous thrombosis.
