Thermo Fisher Scientific Factor X/Xa Monoclonal Antibody (5050)

Product Specific Information

This antibody detects the heavy chains of human Factor Xa and X. It does not bind bovine Factor X or BEGRck-Xa and does not recognize murine or porcine X via Western blot.
Inhibitory properties include inhibition of PT and prothrombinase, partial inhibition of APTT, but no inhibition of amidase activity.
Purity is greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

Factor X undergoes multiple processing steps before its preproprotein is converted to a mature two-chain form by the excision of the tripeptide RKR.
The two chains of the factor are held together by one or more disulfide bonds. The light chain contains two EGF-like domains, while the heavy chain contains the catalytic domain, which is structurally homologous to other hemostatic serine proteases.
The mature factor is activated by cleavage of the activation peptide by Factor IXa (intrinsic pathway) or by Factor VIIa (extrinsic pathway). The activated factor then converts prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of Factor Va, Ca²⁺, and phospholipid during blood clotting.
Mutations in this gene result in Factor X deficiency, a hemorrhagic condition of variable severity.
