Product Specific Information
MA1-43017 detects Protein S in human samples.
It has been successfully used in RIA, WB (non-reduced, Ca²⁺ dependent), and ELISA applications.
This antibody was derived from human protein S and protein S/C4BP complex.
Target Information
Protein S is a vitamin K-dependent, potent neutral anticoagulant plasma glycoprotein.
It has a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa and consists of a single polypeptide chain.
The concentration of Protein S in human plasma is about 25 µg/mL, with a half-life of approximately two days.
Approximately 40% of Protein S in plasma is free, while 60% is complexed with C4b-binding Protein (C4BP).
Only the free Protein S functions as a cofactor to antigen-presenting cells (APC) in the APC-dependent degradation of Factor Va and Factor VIIIa.
