Product Specific Information

This antibody detects the heavy chain of bovine Factor X and Xa (BEGRck factor Xa).
It cross-reacts with human, rabbit, sheep, porcine, and canine Factor X.
It does not recognize murine Factor X via Western blot.

Inhibitory properties: Inhibitory in clotting assays (APTT and PT), partial calcium dependence.
Dissociation Constant (Kd): 9 × 10⁻¹¹ M
Purity: >95% by SDS-PAGE

Target Information

Factor X undergoes multiple processing steps before its preproprotein is converted to a mature two-chain form by the excision of the tripeptide RKR.
The two chains are held together by one or more disulfide bonds.

  • The light chain contains two EGF-like domains.
  • The heavy chain contains the catalytic domain, homologous to other hemostatic serine proteases.

The mature factor is activated by cleavage of the activation peptide by factor IXa (intrinsic pathway) or factor VIIa (extrinsic pathway).
Activated Factor X then converts prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of factor Va, Ca²⁺, and phospholipid during blood clotting.
Mutations in this gene can cause Factor X deficiency, a hemorrhagic condition of variable severity.
