Antibody detects endogenous levels of MAX only when phosphorylated at Ser11.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLHZ) family of transcription factors. It can form homodimers and heterodimers with other family members such as Mad, Mxi1, and Myc. Myc is an oncoprotein involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. These dimers compete for a common DNA target site (E box), creating a complex transcriptional regulation system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though some full-length forms remain uncharacterized.
