Target Information
Beta amyloid is a 40–43 amino acid peptide cleaved from amyloid precursor protein by the protease gamma-secretase. Beta Amyloid (1-40) (Amyloid beta 40 or Abeta 40) and Beta Amyloid (1-42) (Amyloid beta 42 or Abeta 42) are major C-terminal variants of amyloid beta protein, which constitute the majority of amyloid beta proteins. Both alloforms are major components of the extracellular plaques found in Alzheimer’s disease brain tissue.
