This antibody detects SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein, but does not cross-react with SARS-CoV or MERS-CoV nucleocapsid proteins based on internal testing.
Target Information
SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant protein in coronavirus. Due to its strong immunogenicity, the Nucleocapsid Protein has potential diagnostic value. It is an RNA-binding protein critical for viral genome packaging, containing dynamic disordered regions and transiently-helical binding motifs. The folded domains interact minimally, rendering the full-length N protein flexible and multivalent. SARS-CoV-2 causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to severe diseases.
