Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, and providing consistent recombinant production.
Functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies, they recognize multiple epitope sites and offer high sensitivity for low-abundance targets. However, they maintain reproducibility by using a defined mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability.
Note: Formerly called “Recombinant polyclonal antibody”, now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ antibody”. The product and performance remain unchanged.
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, along with beta- and gamma-synuclein. These proteins are abundant in the brain and regulate synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking. Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, implicating them in signaling pathways.
Defects in the SNCA gene (encoding alpha-synuclein) are linked to the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides are also major components of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
Diseases associated with SNCA include Parkinson Disease 1, Autosomal Dominant and Dementia, Lewy Body.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
