This antibody detects endogenous levels of AMPK beta 1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 181.
Target Information
AMPK beta 1 is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. It functions as a key energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. Upon activation by metabolic stress, AMPK phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR), enzymes critical for fatty acid and cholesterol biosynthesis. The beta 1 subunit may positively regulate AMPK activity, and its myristoylation and phosphorylation influence enzyme activity and localization. It may also serve as an adaptor molecule mediating AMPK complex assembly.
