This antibody detects endogenous levels of HDAC5 only when phosphorylated at Serine 498.
Target Information
Histones are key regulators of transcription, cell cycle progression, and development. Histone acetylation/deacetylation modifies chromatin structure and influences transcription factor access to DNA. The HDAC5 protein belongs to the class II histone deacetylase family, possessing deacetylase activity and functioning as a transcriptional repressor when bound to promoters. It forms complexes with HDAC3 and interacts with myocyte enhancer factor-2 (MEF2) proteins, repressing MEF2-dependent gene expression. This gene has been implicated in colon cancer, and two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
