- Specificity: HBJ127 binds to the CD98 heavy chain at an epitope consisting of residues AFS (aa 442–444).
- No cross-reactivity with other species reported.
- CD98 is expressed at high levels on monocytes and at very low levels on peripheral blood T and B lymphocytes, splenocytes, NK cells, and granulocytes.
Target Information
CD98 (4F2) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein serving as the heavy chain of heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HATs).
Linked to various light chains via disulfide bonds, CD98 mediates cell surface expression and basolateral localization of transporter complexes in polarized epithelial cells.
It interacts with β1 integrins, enhancing ligand affinity, and plays roles in amino acid transport, cell fusion, activation, differentiation, growth, and apoptosis.
