Target Information

CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a critical role in maintaining genomic integrity when DNA damage occurs. It mediates DNA damage-induced checkpoint control and prevents replication under compromised DNA conditions.
Inhibition of CHK1 can induce mitotic catastrophe in p53-deficient cancer cells, making CHK1 an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, particularly since about 50% of human cancers lack functional p53.
