Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor. It is widely expressed on mesenchymal-derived cells and can play either pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in various tumors.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGFRB, determining its functional specificity. Knockout studies in mice show that PDGFRA is critical for kidney development, as heterozygous mice display defective renal phenotypes.
