This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human SMO. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with mouse and rat based on 100% sequence homology.

Target Information

Smoothened drosophila homolog (SMOH) is a serpentine G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) of the Fz/Smo family with 787 amino acids, seven transmembrane domains, four glycosylation sites, and an extracellular amino terminus. Smoothened, activated by β-Arrestin 2 and GRK2, acts as a receptor for Sonic hedgehog (Shh) and is a positive regulator of the Hedgehog signaling pathway along with the inhibitor Patched (PTCH). It regulates vertebrate development, cellular proliferation, and differentiation via activation of transcription factor Gli. Mutations in Smoothened are associated with sporadic basal cell carcinoma of the skin, and expression is common in heart and brain tissues.
