Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human SNAI1. A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with human and mouse based on 100% sequence homology with the immunizing peptide.
Target Information
Zinc finger protein SNAI1 (SNAIL) is a transcriptional repressor that downregulates ectodermal gene expression within the mesoderm and contributes to mesoderm and neural crest formation. SNAI1 plays a key role in tumor invasion through E-cadherin downregulation and induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In breast cancer, expression of SNAI1 and/or SNAI2 (Slug) is associated with E-cadherin repression, metastasis, tumor recurrence, and poor prognosis. Snail 1 protein in stroma may serve as a prognostic marker for colon tumors.
