Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody 1-155-2 recognizes the lambda light chain of human immunoglobulin. The Ig lambda chain (~22 kDa) consists of one variable and one constant region. Two lambda chains, together with heavy chains, form the complete immunoglobulin structure. Expression of Ig lambda is typically found in less than half of B lymphocytes and has been associated with neoplastic lymphomas.

Target Information

Immunoglobulins share a basic structure of four polypeptide chains: two heavy and two light chains (kappa or lambda, ~22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda chains each have variable and constant regions, distinguishable by their antigenic properties. The kappa:lambda ratio is approximately 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful in identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates suggests malignancy.
