Target Information

DYNLT1 acts as a non-catalytic accessory component of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex, linking dynein to cargos and adapter proteins that regulate dynein function. It plays a role in intracellular retrograde motility of vesicles and organelles along microtubules. Also involved in cargo transport such as rhodopsin-bearing vesicles in polarized epithelia, and in targeting D-type retrovirus gag polyproteins to cytoplasmic assembly sites. DYNLT1 may function in neuronal morphogenesis by regulating actin cytoskeleton through Rac1 activation, and may act as a receptor-independent activator of heterotrimeric G-protein signaling. It plays roles in neurogenesis and mitotic spindle orientation regulation.
