Target Information
Msi2 (Musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein containing two RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains.
It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels and regulates target mRNA expression, contributing to stem cell proliferation and maintenance in the central nervous system.
Msi2 undergoes posttranslational phosphorylation and is upregulated after brain injury, suggesting a role in neural regeneration.
Chromosomal aberrations involving the Msi2 gene are linked to the progression of chronic myeloid leukemia.
Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
Tissue specificity: Ubiquitous; detected at low levels.
