Target Information
MAPK14 (p38 alpha) is a stress-activated protein kinase regulating cellular responses to stress and inflammation. It is activated by dual phosphorylation at Thr180 and Tyr182. Four isoforms exist with differing tissue expression and affinities. Upon activation by stimuli such as TNF or IL-1, MAPK kinase-3/6 phosphorylates p38 MAPK, which then activates transcription factors including ATF-2, CHOP-1, and MEF-2.
