Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.
These antibodies recognize multiple epitopes on the target protein, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets.
Each lot maintains a consistent antibody population, eliminating biological variability seen in traditional polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information
Tau is a neuronal microtubule-associated protein primarily localized on axons. It promotes tubulin polymerization and stabilizes microtubules.
The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules, while the N-terminus associates with neural plasma membrane components, acting as a linker between them.
Tau/MAPT localization determines axonal polarity in neurons. Short isoforms contribute to cytoskeletal flexibility, while longer isoforms aid stabilization.
In its hyper-phosphorylated form, Tau is the major component of paired helical filaments (PHF), which form neurofibrillary lesions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
Hyper-phosphorylation disrupts microtubule binding, leading to cytoskeletal destabilization and neuronal degeneration.
Tau phosphorylation is mediated by kinases such as GSK-3β, PKA, cdk5, and casein kinase II.
Abnormal Tau aggregation is also associated with other neurodegenerative disorders, including Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal degeneration, and progressive supranuclear palsy.
