Target Information

Transcriptional regulator involved in processes such as glucose metabolism, aerobic glycolysis, muscle cell differentiation, and autophagy. Recognizes and binds the forkhead DNA sequence motif (5’-GTAAACA-3’) and can act as either a transcription activator or repressor depending on context. Together with FOXK2, regulates metabolic reprogramming toward aerobic glycolysis by promoting glycolytic enzyme expression (HK2, PFK, PKLR, LDH) and suppressing pyruvate oxidation through up-regulation of PDK1 and PDK4. Plays a role in gluconeogenesis during fasting. Involved in mTORC1-mediated metabolic reprogramming, regulating genes such as HIF1A. Acts as a negative regulator of autophagy in skeletal muscle by repressing autophagy genes during starvation. Regulates myogenic progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation by interacting with FOXO4 and MEFC, and participates in muscle remodeling and repair. Enhances Wnt/β-catenin signaling by translocating DVL into the nucleus. May contribute to antiviral gene expression through ISRE binding.
