Target Information
Cardiac Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, located on the thin filament of striated muscles. It regulates muscle contraction in response to intracellular calcium ion concentration changes and is essential for proper muscle function and myofibril formation. In humans, four cTnT isoforms are expressed in a developmentally regulated manner, and their expression is affected by heart failure. Mutations in Cardiac Troponin T have been linked to familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in multiple tissue-specific isoforms.
