Product Specific Information
In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at 45 kDa in non-apoptotic cells. A suggested positive control is HeLa cell lysate.
Target Information
ICAD (Inhibitor of Caspase-Activated DNase) regulates nuclear apoptosis by inhibiting caspase-3-activated DNase (CAD). It exists in two isoforms:
- ICAD-L/DFF45 (45 kDa) – functional isoform
- ICAD-S/DFF35 (35 kDa) – non-functional isoform
ICAD is cleaved during apoptosis, allowing CAD to fragment nuclear DNA. It also acts as a CAD-specific folding chaperone. ICAD has been studied as a potential target for restoring normal apoptotic signaling in colon and brain cancer cells. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encode distinct isoforms of ICAD.
