Target Information
TRAIL-R1 (CD261, DR4) is a type I transmembrane protein, also called TRAIL receptor 1. The ligand for this DR4 death receptor, termed TRAIL, belongs to the TNF family. DR4 mediates apoptosis and NF-κB activation in various cells and tissues. Apoptosis, a programmed cell death, is essential for normal cellular differentiation and development of multicellular organisms. It is induced by cytokines of the TNF family (e.g., TNF, Fas ligand) and their death domain-containing receptors (e.g., TNFR1, Fas receptor).
