PA1-9586 detects Cytochrome C in human, mouse, bovine, and rat samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ELISA procedures.
By Western blot, PA1-9586 detects a 12 kDa protein representing Cytochrome C.

Assay Note:
Do not use dry milk in blocking or dilution buffer. Use BSA (3–5% in blocking and 1–3% in dilution buffers).

Immunogen: Purified bovine cytochrome c protein
Storage: Store at 4°C for 1 week, and -20°C for up to one year.

Target Information

Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria.
It plays a critical role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production.
Release of cytochrome C into the cytosol is triggered by apoptotic stimuli, where it binds apoptotic protease activating factor and activates procaspase 9.
Cytosolic cytochrome C also activates caspase 3, a key effector of apoptosis.
