Target Information
The mammalian Phospholipase Cγ (PLCγ) family includes PLCγ1 and PLCγ2, which share core structural domains and possess unique PH, SH2, and SH3 domains.
Upon stimulation by extracellular signals such as hormones or growth factors, receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) phosphorylate and activate PLCγ. Activated PLCγ hydrolyzes phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP₂) to generate the second messengers inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (IP₃) and diacylglycerol (DAG).
