Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on all alternative forms of human CD45 antigen (Leukocyte Common Antigen), a 180–220 kDa single-chain type I transmembrane protein expressed at high levels on all cells of hematopoietic origin, except erythrocytes and platelets.
It does not cross-react with equine CD45.
Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising about 10% of surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent on non-hematopoietic cell lines and tissues.
CD45 plays a key role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling by regulating Src-family kinases. Multiple isoforms arise from alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains.
CD45RA is one isoform with restricted expression among lymphoid subtypes. CD45 is an essential regulator of T- and B-cell receptor signaling, cytokine receptor pathways, and integrin-mediated signal transduction, contributing to cell survival and immune function modulation.
