Product Specific Information
The 90 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD38, a ~42 kDa type II transmembrane protein. CD38 expression increases during B-cell differentiation and is down-regulated in germinal center B cells and mature plasma cells. It is also found on subsets of thymocytes, mature T cells, and NK cells.
Crosslinking of CD38 induces B-cell proliferation, enhanced by IL-4 and LPS. CD38 acts as a counter-receptor for CD31 and functions as an ectoenzyme with cyclase and hydrolase activity, contributing to lymphocyte activation and differentiation.
- Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
- Applications Tested: Mouse splenocytes
- Excitation/Emission: 633–647 nm / 780 nm (Red laser)
- Light Sensitivity: Protect from light (photo-induced oxidation)
- Fixation: Compatible with IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-57); store up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark with minimal brightness loss.
Target Information
CD38 (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that induces activation, proliferation, and differentiation of lymphocytes and mediates apoptosis of progenitor cells. It functions as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) and as a cell surface receptor.
Antibodies to CD38 are useful for lymphoma and leukemia subtyping, plasma cell detection (e.g., myeloma identification), and as markers for activated B and T cells. CD38 is expressed in pancreas, liver, kidney, malignant lymphoma, and neuroblastoma.
Diseases associated with CD38 dysfunction include chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter’s Syndrome.
