Mouse anti-Human CD140a antibody, clone 35248 recognizes the human platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA), a 1089 amino acid, approximately 180 kDa single-pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. The specific growth factor bound to a receptor monomer determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer, composed of both PDGF receptor alpha and beta polypeptides. Knockout mouse studies show that homozygosity is lethal, and heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes, indicating the alpha form's critical role in kidney development.
