- Mouse anti-Human iC3b (Neoantigen) antibody, clone 013III-1.16 recognizes the approximately 42 kDa human inactive complement component 3b (iC3b) neoantigen present in blood serum.
Target Information
Inactive complement component 3b (iC3b) is a 42 kDa neoantigen present in blood serum. Cleavage of C3b into iC3b by factor I, in the presence of cofactors, alters binding properties and prevents further progression of the complement pathway. This regulation mechanism contributes to immune tolerance and modulation.
iC3b binds complement receptor type 3 on antigen-presenting cells, stimulating production of TGF-β2 and IL-10, and interacts with B-cells via CD21, linking innate and adaptive immune responses. It also acts as an opsonin recognized by CR3 on leukocytes or CRIg on Kupffer cells, promoting phagocytosis. Elevated iC3b levels are associated with diseases such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
