EPHB4는 ephrin 수용체 패밀리에 속하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로, 신경계 발달, 혈관신생, 시냅스 형성 및 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Ephrin 수용체는 ephrin-A(EFNA)와 ephrin-B(EFNB) 리간드에 대한 결합 친화도 및 세포외 도메인 서열 유사성에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EphB4 단백질은 ephrin-B2에 결합하며 혈관 발달에 필수적인 역할을 합니다.
