Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the ephrin (EPH) family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors form the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases and are involved in developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system and erythropoiesis.
Ephrins are divided into two classes based on structure and sequence:
- Ephrin-A (EFNA): anchored to the membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage
- Ephrin-B (EFNB): transmembrane proteins
This gene encodes an EFNA class ephrin.
