Target Information
The Cdc6 protein is essential for the initiation of DNA replication and is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6. It functions as a regulator in early DNA replication steps, localizing in the nucleus during G1 phase and translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase.
Its subcellular translocation is regulated by phosphorylation via Cdks. Transcription of this protein responds to mitogenic signals through E2F-mediated transcriptional control mechanisms.
