Target Information
The TRBC1 protein corresponds to the constant region of the T cell receptor (TR) alpha chain. Alpha-beta T cell receptors are essential antigen-specific receptors present on T lymphocytes. They recognize peptide-major histocompatibility (pMH) complexes displayed by antigen-presenting cells, initiating immune signaling cascades through TR-CD3 clustering and subsequent activation of LCK, ZAP70, and LAT signalosome formation. These pathways regulate calcium, MAPK, and NF-κB signaling, crucial for T cell activation and differentiation.
The T cell repertoire is generated in the thymus via V-(D)-J rearrangement and shaped by selection processes to ensure self-MH restriction and non-autoaggressive T cells.
