Target Information
This gene encodes one of three members of the Tribbles family. The Tribbles proteins share a Trb domain homologous to protein serine-threonine kinases but lack the active site lysine, likely resulting in no catalytic activity. They modulate signal transduction pathways involved in various physiological and pathological processes. This TRIB2 member induces apoptosis in hematopoietic cells, is upregulated by inflammatory stimuli in myeloid (THP-1) cells, and functions as an oncogene that inactivates the transcription factor C/EBPalpha, contributing to acute myelogenous leukemia. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
