Prolactin (PRL)은 유즙 생성, 염분 및 수분 조절, 성장, 발달 및 생식에 관여하는 뇌하수체 호르몬입니다. PRL은 세포막의 PRL 수용체와 결합하여 신호전달 경로를 통해 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다. PRL 수용체(PRLR)는 cytokine receptor family에 속하며, 조직 및 종에 따라 약 40–100 kDa 크기로 다양합니다. PRLR은 prolactin 결합 부위를 포함하는 5개의 cysteine을 가진 세포외 영역, 단일 transmembrane 도메인, 그리고 세포 기능 조절에 영향을 주는 cytoplasmic 영역으로 구성됩니다.
