This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Human STAT5a.
Target Information
STAT5 alpha is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases, forming homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators. STAT5 alpha mediates responses to ligands such as IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and growth hormones.
Activation of STAT5 alpha in myeloma and lymphoma associated with TEL/JAK2 gene fusion is independent of cell stimulus and essential for tumorigenesis.
In mouse, STAT5 alpha induces expression of BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), suggesting anti-apoptotic function. STAT5 alpha and STAT5 beta share 96% sequence similarity and are co-expressed in most tissues. Differential mRNA accumulation has been reported in muscle and mammary tissue.
STAT5 alpha is critically involved in reproduction, lactation, immune function, and somatic growth.
