Description:
The 61D3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD14, a 53–55 kDa GPI-linked glycoprotein expressed on monocytes, interfollicular macrophages, and some dendritic cells. Complexes of LPS and LBP bind with high affinity to monocytes through surface CD14.

Applications Reported:
This antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

Target Information

CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor, existing in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 binds LPS in conjunction with LBP, aiding in immune recognition and inflammatory response modulation. Soluble CD14 (sCD14) can discriminate LPS structural variants and contributes to neutralization of serum endotoxins. CD14 also binds apoptotic cells, influencing allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and Croup.
