The C67F154 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD11b (integrin alpha-M), a 165 kDa adhesion molecule that forms a heterodimer with integrin beta-2 (CD18). The CD11b/CD18 complex, also known as Mac-1 or CR3, mediates interactions with ICAM-1, ICAM-2, ICAM-4, CD14, CD50, CD23, heparin, iC3b, fibrinogen, and Factor X, playing a key role in cell adhesion and immune response.

This antibody has been tested in immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue using both low and high pH antigen retrieval methods and can be used at ≤10 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined by the user.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD11b (integrin alpha-M, ITGAM, integrin alpha-X, ITGAX) is a 165 kDa adhesion molecule that associates with integrin beta-2 (CD18) to form the CD11b/CD18 complex (Mac-1, CR3). It is expressed on monocytes/macrophages, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, subsets of NK and dendritic cells, and microglia. CD11b/CD18 functions as a receptor for multiple ligands including ICAMs, CD14, and iC3b, facilitating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

CD11b is expressed on approximately 8% of spleen cells, 44% of bone marrow cells, and less than 1% of thymocytes. It serves as a microglial marker in nervous tissue. Expression increases during monocyte maturation and varies among tissue macrophages. Higher expression is observed in peritoneal macrophages compared to splenic macrophages.
CD11b dysfunction is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and ITGAM-related susceptibility to autoimmune diseases.
